September Challenge

#30 A princess

I am finishing off my September challenge with a royal image. I was thinking to wrap it up with a really good shoot, but when I came to school today, I realized that Mette Marit would open the career fair. And what did I do this morning, yes I packed my wide angle and 50mm, not my telezoom *@#$!!*#%&!? In addition I got a place all in the back so this was all I managed :)

It is not everyday I see a real princess, so I had to have her on my picture of today :)

#29 Architecture
It is a lot of nice architecture around my school, and I find this building interesting.

I tried to capture reflections, lines and curves today :)

Today's shot had to be taken early this morning, as the day to day is really busy. A lot of school work deadlines coming up this week and next..... it is like the exam period...

Only one picture left... :)

#28 Abstract

Today I go for a totally different picture, it is taken this way and no manipulation, I was trying to take a shot, when I realized I forgot to check the shutter and it was 10secons long... yeah, I did not manage to hold my camera still for 10 seconds. And out came this, I kind of like it because it makes me think of a explosion in space or something like that... :)

Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery  in art. This departure from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial, or it can be complete.

#27 Autumn II
Leaves in the Fall come tumbling down,
Scarlet and yellow, russet and brown,
Leaves in the garden are swept in a heap,
The trees are ready for sleep.
***************************************

Today I had focus on the shadows when I was out today, then sun was shining so low, and gave long shadows, I kind of liked the shadow from this leaf :)

#26 Summerfeeling
With only minutes to do my shot today, I was glad the botanical garden is just outside my home :) Even it is autumn, this pink colors gave me a feeling of summer, but it is only the colors, not the temperature though... :)

#25 Look who is in town!

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.

I remember I loved the stories from Winnie the pooh when I was little - guess this little guy was happy today :)

#24 Reach out
Reach out to embrace what is seen all around you,
feel this in your heart, then express what you must do.
For each has a special purpose that we all come to share,
to give guidance or nurture or just show that you truly care.

Reach out to teach the wisdom that you already know,
teach about balance in the evolutionary flow.
For your participation is a gift you're able to share,
a valued contribution that cannot be compared.

Reach out to share your love, plus your deep concern,
toward the world, proving what hasn't yet been learned.
Together we can strive to make this world a better place,
with balance and harmony for the entire human race.

Reach out to others and then cast your light out wide,
there is nothing to fear, so please don't run and hide.
Show strength with integrity and let others see this too.
For what is more precious than reaching out in all you do!?

#23 Eating flames

Today I was walking the traditional river walk through Akerselva, it was lit with candles and different types of light all along the water side. There are also different shows and people performing. These guys where playing with fire, and had a brilliant show!! It was difficult to take pictures in the dark, and with an ISO of 1250, the quality is thereafter. I was not sure which photo to select today, but I ended on this one. I considered this one as well, see here. I liked both, especially with his tattoo snake.

#22 Lemons
When life gives you lemons, ask for tequila and salt - and invite me over ;-)

I like this quote :)

#21 The beauty of autumn
It's autumn again
Leaves whisper the sound of our past
In loss they pay a descent
To the ground we fall

It's autumn again
Our song is sung by the wind
Echoes of loss and grief
Through chilled air we wade

Even it is a bit sad that the summer is over, the autumn also have its beauty!!

I have done 3 weeks of my project today. Hurray!!!! :) Happy about what I have managed these 21 days of photo every day :)

#20 All the good is 3
Alle gode ting er tre as we say in norwegian... I have managed to do my project for almost 3 weeks now :) I have impressed myself!!
Today has been a busy day, as busy as last week ended.. Hopefully I will have a less stressful week to come :) As a little lack of time I was playing around with my 50mm and some forks today :)

#19 A good deal

Today Marion and I was walking around in Oslo, we found an underground to cross under the railways so we did not have to walk all the way around, when we came inside it was a bit scary, and we saw these people in the other end we did not dear to cross.... So we turned back and walked the way around :)

#18 Reflections
Today is a wonderful Saturday, I shot this when I was heading to the buss station to pick up my friend Tone, she is coming to my party tonight :-)

#17 Passing by
I realize I have been into pictures with movements lately, not sure why... Anyway here is another one, but this time in colors :)

This is how I have felt this week has been, swish and it is over!!

Wish you all a nice weekend!!

#16 Turid
Today I had a visit from my beautiful friend Turid :)

We were discussing photography, laughing and having a good time.
I wanted to try some portrait shots of her, and she never says no :) We tried some different angles, and I liked this one, not a standard one :)

Thank you Turid, for being such a good friend, all our conversations, laughter and fun we have together. And for today's picture :)

#15 Behind the trees
The 15th day of my project, it is not every day I have time for a photo-walk, and today was one of these days... At school at 09.00 and finished at 19.30...

I have been thinking about a silhouette shot lately, so I gave it a try today. It is a simple shot, but I had to be simple today :) I will try more, and hopefully get a really good one soon.

#14 The light stairs
Every morning and afternoon when I go to the subway on my way to and home from school, I go in these lightening stairs. The first times I was really fascinated by it, then I started to get used to the flashing different light. Sometimes we just take the refreshing elements in our everyday life for granted, so today I stopped and tried to catch the beauty of the light :)

#13 Nydalen

Todays picture had to be taken this morning, since I am quite busy today. I have been walking by this place so many times and today it was about time to take a shot.
I like the lines and the straight in contrast with the flowing water :)

Wish you all a wonderful week!!

#12 Mohamed

I came home from Tønsberg this afternoon, I took my camera and headed down to centrum. Then I met Mohamed and his friends they stopped me when they saw my camera and I was allowed to take a picture of him.

#11 I am the winner!!

This weekend I am visiting my hometown Tønsberg, a beautiful city!

I was wonder around in the city and I heard a lot of people in one of the back alley. When I came over I saw that they had a race with home made cars for children, I do not know the English word... in norwegian it is called 'olabil'. All these childred had made their own car and was racing down a hill. I like this because this little guy with the big helmet hat to look between the steering wheel! He was so determined, and he made it!!

#10 Circle of Life

Progress has not followed a straight ascending line, but a spiral with rhythms of progress and retrogression, of evolution and dissolution...

Today I am 'home' in Tønsberg, been fascinated by these stairs some time, so this became my shot today.

Wish you all a good weekend!! :)

#9 Out of sync

Time is the only thief we can't get justice against. ~Astrid Alauda

The time to the right is for the westbound trains, while the time to the left is for the eastbound trains. Since I was stuck in the constant lack of time today I took the eastbound train, so I have a 30 seconds lead :) or I just wish... It is not a good shot today, I have been really busy all day, and not much time to look for a good shot.

On the subway on my way home I saw these watches and was a bit fascinated that I could shoot when one had the second hand at noon and the other at 6 :)

#8 On the move
All rights reserved

Today I start the second week of my project. It is a challenge, my brain is looking for motives all the time... But it is a good training  :)

I have tried to focus on lines and shapes and also street shots, the last days. I find it difficult, but today I became pleased with the result :) I am still looking for a good recipe I can use when shooting lines and curves, so if you have one, please let me know!! :)

#7 The View
I had some trouble finding inspiration today, so after a day reading articles all day, I took my camera on my exercise bicycle trip around Maridalsvannet. The sky was so impressive and I had to try a shot, and I became quite happy with the result :)

#6 Just a shadow?
On my way to school this morning, I found myself in these lines of shadows.

I like it because of the simplicity :)

#5 Riding the Tiger
Day 5 of my one picture a day project.

It was such a beautiful day, the sun has been shining all day :)

Oslo is called the Tigercity (Tigerstaden in norwegian), this tiger is in front of the train station. There is always a lot of children playing with this tiger, it is like all the children have to say 'hello' to the tiger.

I like this shot because I think it look like the tiger is almost moving and she is hanging on to this tail :-)

#4 I look great!

This is the 4th picture in my project, not the best portrait I think, but I liked the story from my meeting with this man. So I made him my picture of today :)

Today I went to the post office, while I was waiting, this homeless man started to pose for my camera. I had not switched on my camera yet and was not ready shoot the pose he gave me, so the first pictures was no good. He came over and started talking and asked if I wanted to take one more picture, and he said: "and this time I will give you a smile also!", so this was the result.
I asked if he wanted to see the picture and when he saw it, he was very pleased, and said he was looking great. He started to tell me that 6 months ago he his weight was only 50 kilos and he was not well, and that he had been in coma 8 times in his life. But now his weight is 88 kilos, and he is very happy and pleased with the situation that he had put on weight and looked so good!
I think he was surprised that I wanted to listen to his story, and it was a big smile on his face when I wished him a wonderful day :)

I forgot to ask his name...

I find it difficult to take pictures of people I do not know, so this was good training for me. Next time I need to take more pictures and find the best angle (the shadow in his face is no good, and I should have avoided that). But I am learning!! :)

Wish you all a wonderful weekend!

#3 The stair to the top

The Norwegian school of management is an impressive building, it is designed by the architect Nils Torp, the building has also won the price FIABCI Prix d'Excellence 2008 for the architecturals.

This is the stair up to the library, where a lot of books (knowledge) and so many dedicated students sit and study in the hope to get a top-job when they graduate (including me ;) ).

#2 Coffee Time

The second day of my project, I was trying not to be so stressed about finding a motive...

I went to take a coffee with my sweet cousin Renate. And the picture of today was just in front of me, when we sat down drinking coffee :-)

She is the kindest person I know in the world, she always care about the people around her, and it is always laughter and smile when she is around :-)

Thank you for helping me with today's picture!
Love you - veldig glad i deg søta :-)

#1 It is Circus in the City
